No, the Trion S2 uses SLAM algorithms that position themselves using the geometries of the environment, although it allows integrating GNSS bases for absolute georeferencing.
It allows you to view the point cloud while walking, but the final post-processing to remove noise usually takes about the same time as the capture.
Yes, being an active LiDAR sensor, it does not depend on ambient light to capture geometry, only for the color of the photos.
The FJD Trion S2 is designed for mobile capture work in the field, maintaining practical and continuous operation. The purchase includes 2 base batteries, and each can deliver up to 2 hours of continuous work, depending on usage, configuration, and project conditions. This allows extending the survey day by alternating batteries, avoiding unnecessary interruptions and maintaining a more efficient workflow in the field.
The FJD Trion S2 can be georeferenced in different ways, depending on the level of control and accuracy required by the project. If georeferencing is needed, control points, direct georeferencing via mini RTK antenna through NTRIP, or even PPK for post-processing can be used. This allows the equipment to adapt to different capture scenarios, from quick surveys to projects requiring more controlled and precise spatial location.
The FJD Trion S2 has internal cameras that allow coloring the point cloud and improving the visual reading of the captured environment. However, it can also use an external Insta360 camera when a more complete and higher quality visual representation is sought. The Insta360 is especially aimed at improving results in Gaussian Splatting workflows, when the project requires a more immersive, realistic, and attractive 3D visualization. Simply put: the internal cameras serve to color the point cloud; the Insta360 enhances visual quality when a more immersive and impactful 3D experience is desired.
